European Water Conference 2009

Assigned by the European Commission, Euro Keys was responsible for the practical arrangements of the conference organization in order to encourage active participation as well as to increase public and stakeholders’ awareness.

The aims of the Conference in 2009 was to analyse the state of play of the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), to discuss the importance of public participation in decision making in water issues, including the experiences to date, as well as reflect on the main challenges for water management in Europe and on how the draft River Basin Management Plans and Programmes of Measures are proposing to address these.
The key event was a mile stone in the European debate on the preparation of the River Basin Management Plans.

The conference report is available here

EDPD conference 2010

Euro Keys had been responsible for the organization of the European Commission’s annual European Day of People with Disabilities Conference since 2004.
Also in 2010 Euro Keys is contracted to provide specialised expertise in order to handle all logistical arrangements and media coverage of the fully accessible conference for about 350 people from current and new Member States and EEA States including assistance and sign language interpretation – technical aspects and infrastructure, media participation and media impact.

In the context of its disability strategy, the Commission encourages initiatives at Community and national levels intended to identify and remove the various economic and social barriers that prevent people with disabilities from using their skills and enjoying equality of opportunity and full and complete participation in all areas of life.
The long-term objective of this strategy is equality of opportunity for people with disabilities, and this objective is at the centre of a multiannual action plan on disabilities (2004-2010) that is being developed in successive two-year stages. This action plan constitutes a point of reference and framework intended to ensure that the rights of people with disabilities are fully taken into account in the relevant European Union policies.
